Cherry blossom photo

I think this is my favorite photo of the year that I've taken so far.

I don't know as it's quite FP-worthy, but I would love suggestions on things I could have done better, especially with composition and editing. Thank you! — PeterCooperJr (talk) 17:16, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Certainly not a bad photo. Might have been improved by a higher f-stop; assuming there was any wind, though, you couldn't do a much longer exposure, so you'd have to increase the ISO number. I think you could have had some gain there: ISO 100 is very low, most digital cameras will perform roughly as well at ISO 200 and even ISO 400. Also, I'd have cropped this a bit at top and (especially) left, I think it would make for a more dynamic composition. - Jmabel ! talk 20:36, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Maybe I'm still not entirely comfortable with photography jargon, but are you saying that the image should be brighter? Or just saying that instead of f/8 ISO 100, it would have worked better at like f/11 ISO 200 which in theory would be at the same brightness? Would that be to make something look better with the flower, the clouds, or both? (Also, it's a relatively-low-end camera with smaller than a full-frame sensor, which I know isn't quite as good at higher f-stops and higher ISOs, though I'm guessing probably for this it would still be adequate.)

In terms of the crop, I liked the look of the expanse of clouds, but I can see how putting more focus on the flower might work better in some ways. I've made an attempt; is this the kind of thing you were thinking of?
